Eaton Crescent, Uplands, Swansea The brief for this large semi detached home  was to extend and open up the space at the  rear of the property. The existing  accommodation was poorly proportioned with  low levels of incoming light and limited views  over the rear garden. A plan developed based  on the notion of a circle and corresponding  curves resulting from parts of circles all  originating from a single central point. This  allowed the plan to open up towards both  boundaries whilst forming interesting external  spaces thereby allowing the new extensions to  be less restrictive or domineering. The resulting  open light filled kitchen and living space flows  out into the garden through the 2.7m high  doors. The alterations and extensions were  conceived and executed in a modern clean  style, which contrasts and complements the  traditional style of the existing house.
